I've never really watched any Star Trek. Where should I start?

Oh yikes that’s a difficult one with almost 60 years for you to catch up on. Next generation was my starting point but back then you only had that show and repeats of the original series. Try next generation first (pilot episodes encounter at farpoint pt 1&2) but mix it up a bit and watch episodes of the original series in between because they do make references to the past show.

It wasn't terrible just felt a bit off to me seeing such an old picard

I know it felt a little depressing to me seeing them all and thinking where have the years gone? It was good to have him and the rest of the crew back in the end just wish it was longer or that next generation could have gone on forever

Same it would have been fun to see them work together for a bit longer then they did in Picard I also noticed a few continuity mistakes along the way but that's really minor stuff

Well Star Trek is littered with continuity errors going right back to the start. Some things have to be changed due to story requirements or real life scientific discoveries for example. One thing I had difficulty with regarding continuity was the communication frequency crusher used to contact Picard and riker saying they used it to communicate while Picard was locutus but there was never a mention of that in the episodes best of both worlds. When riker separated saucer section he did order communication scramble code Riker 1 but that wasn’t the frequency mentioned in Picard

Yeah mostly not all that important stuff but it can still be a bit annoying if you think too much about it

Yeah I definitely think too much about it at times and tbh that’s one of the things that spoils discovery for me. As much as I like strange new worlds too, there are a lot of things there that irritate me. When you do prequel and recasting those become more evident in your face than continuity when you take a show and carry on forwards
