As it happens, even though I could never afford this, I've been looking at properties for sale in my local area that I might consider my dream house and a couple of listings that look good for nudist resort or club. One is a big 5 bed farm house with 1 acre of land and another is 34 acres of farm land with a few stables that could be converted. All I need are a few million pounds in the damn bank. Then of course there's the legal and planning permission squabbling to get permission to turn them into nudist clubs.

Yeah, over here you can't even build a house if the property is registered as farmland... Even if in the center of a smaller village you often can't convert it to a residence. They make these laws and then they complain villages are dying... Of course everyone lives in cities now, it's lamost impossible to find a rural area where it's legal to build a house!

That sucks, I've been thinking sometimes about moving to one of the Baltic countries and buying property and building a house.

I think there'd be a lot of legal processes to go through to get permission to change the purpose of the land and build but the one I saw has stables which could potentially get permission to convert.

Over here you always had to jump through some hoops, but it used to be easier. The most common excuse was building a "farmer's house" which you could do if you passed an exam and officially became a farmer. Now they changed it and more than 50% of your total income must come from agriculture, otherwise they won't let you register the house.

The other option is changing the purpose of land as you mentioned, but you first have to get the county to update their overall plan for the area. Those plans are very long term and generally they don't change just because a person asked. It's much easier if you're a businessman and you want to build a big complex of cottages or individual houses, but even then you have to start with paperwork years before you can start building.

Hopefully it's much easier in the UK  :confused

Wish I could see the original listing but yeah a whole resort for that price is crazy. Makes me wonder what kind of state it was in

It seemed to be in decent shape. Not really a resort but some cabin by a lake on a small island
