Not often do we find ourselves enamored with clothing or items that can be classified as clothes in some way, but there is one that has caught my attention lately. Boots and other nice leather footwear have become a special interest of mine over the last few years. Most of this interest is rooted in my local community, which has a few prominent boot makers, but my collection has grown to have many boots in it.
I am at 12 pairs of leather footwear at the moment and my top 3 that I ware mostly are Whites MP Sherman, Nicks ND3, and a Nicks Comstock. My go-to for around the house are Birkenstock Arizona.

What is your favorite pair of shoes/boots?

What is the prefect nudist footwear?

@cjpilotboy I took a look at some of those boots. At like $600/pair I wouldn't have 12 pair. Plus, I don't know where I'd wear them. I like switching off between sneakers, leather shoes and clogs. I have th same Birkenstocks-but I don't wear them around the house. If I'm home I'm nude and barefoot.

@the_nude_topher They do have a high price, but the value comes from how long lasting they are. You can get about 4 resols before a rebuild and then you can normally rebuild 3 times before they truly need to be retired or reworked. The footwear I had before the leather boots never fit quite right and after a few months id have to accept that my shoes were not as wide as they needed to be for my feet. The great thing about leather footwear is that it changes to your foot over time and uses natural materials that help the foot be healthier compared to synthetic materials that dont breath or mold to your foot. I love my Birkenstocks and have had them for 5 years now. They are awesome for going on short jaunts or to use around camp. They dont love water due to the corkbed sole, so that would be a downside at a resort.

@cjpilotboy Trust me, I know all about the value of leather shoes. That's all I buy for the reasons you mentioned. My Birks have encountered water too often, now the cork is messed up.

I always put function before form, especially for something like shoes. I grew up wearing "normal" shoes/sneakers, and every day I couldn't wait to get home and take them off. I used to spend hours going through different shoe stores only to find one pair of shoes that fit. And when I say fit, I mean they wouldn't hurt me but I still couldn't wait to get them off.

Nowadays, I own exclusively "barefoot" shoes (Freet, Vivobarefoot, Groundies...) and I'm not planning to buy any other kinds. Either way, since I just want them to fit well and don't care that much what they look like, I don't imagine ever having a collection or anything like that. I just have one pair of shoes for every season and that's it. And since this type of shoes doesn't have a ton of cushion that can wear out, they seem to last forever too.

That's something I enjoy about the higher end boots. They chose to make it last by not putting in any cushioning under foot becuase the point is to make a boot that molds to your foot not a foot that molds to their cushion.

I don't understand your argument. Cushion is soft, it's way less likely to deform your feet than direct contact with something relatively hard like leather or rubber. Rubber does mold better than whatever most modern shoes are made of, but I think we're talking more about the outer material than the cushion here. Either way, barefoot shoes don't need to "break in" or mold to your foot over time, and they won't mold to a bad shape if you have, for example, flat feet. That's why I like them. I have posture problems, but I'm getting better... so if I step into some of my older shoes now, they don't feel comfortable bevause the sole is worn out in an irregular pattern that doesn't match the current state of my feet. I also love them because I don't have to go through the nightmare of "breaking them in" by keeping my feet all squished up in brand new shoes.

I have a pair of White's smoke jumpers.  I have really wide feet so they are the first pair of anything I've had that actually fit right.  I absolutely love em.

But most of the time default to either flips or a water hiking shoe.  Merrells used to make a good one that dried super fast and chaco had really cool flip flops with a vibram sole.  They both were discontinued though and I'm still looking for a good alternative.  Salmon has a decent water hiker but its not ideal for me.

Look up barefoot shoes, they're great and it's really easy to find a pair that fits wide feet. I mean they're specifically made to be foot shaped, not shoe shaped, so that just makes sense.

I've been wanting to try some of these for a while, but still haven't pulled the trigger on a pair.  Vibram makes some and I'm a big fan of vibram so idk whats holding me back

I've never tried the vibram shoes, so I don't know how good they are, but those are definitely not the first pair I'd try. Let's be honest, they do look ridiculous, they would attract a ton of attention. And I personally despise the feeling of something stuck between my toes so I wouldn't be comfortable in them either.

However, I can only say good things about Wildling, Freet and Vivobarefoot, all of which I own. It's just a matter of finding the manufacturer and model that fit the shape of your foot best. I suggest ordering a bunch of them from whoever has good return policies in your region.

I don't know alot about shoes in general but I have a pair of some cheap " Jesus Sandals" I got at Walmart a few years ago that I like and call them my nude beach shoes. I'm very picky with my sandals because of the way I walk

but yes when I am nude I also like to wear either tennis shoes or boots, i'm still experimenting on the kinds of boots I like when nude, i've NEVER had good luck with timberlands. and i'm still deciding how high up I want the ankle because if its too high its hard to remove them to go to pools or play in the water
