Michael Jai White as Jax is brilliant casting. Still came off a little cheesy but alas 1000x better than the old movies.

Interesting how it's rooted in the real world instead of having the tournament in another dimension and such.  Since all the powers seem to have a semi-realistic explanation I'm curious how they'll address Shang Tsung's abilities.

Per the link it's only a "prof of concept" type short film; made in the hopes that the studio will finance a film based on that premise.  Jerri Ryan said that she did it as a favor to a friend, the director.

I do have a soft spot for the origional Mortal Kombat film, cheesy as it was.

I was really bummed out when I found out this was just a pitch. I really hope someone picks it up. It looks too awesome not to make into a movie. I enjoyed the old one, but it could've been way better. This movie would take care of that. :D
