As chess is one of my favorite hobbies, I thought of putting a chess-by-mail type thread up here.  If anybody else is interested, just reply to this thread with your move.  I'll start.

Yep. I thought pm would be more correspondence chess like. And plus since I just started I didn't want most of my posts to be chess moves.

Excellent point.  (He won, by the way).  In some other forums I've been in, certain threads or sections didn't count towards your number of posts.  Maybe that could work here?
