Well the 2015 core set has just come out. The starter decks are pretty awesome. Also the black/white journy into nyx  starter is a really strong deck.  If you'd like any tips on playing or deck building, feel free to ask or pm.

I kinda want to go with a green deck but need more archetype help...
Id think a green red might be a interesting combo if the right cards are there. Eh

When I played my favorite deck was my Sliver deck. I also had a token deck that was quite annoying for everyone ;)

Nothing wrong with being a noob. My main deck is green (I also have green/black black and black/red). Green decks work by getting big creatures out fast. Mana gen and growth cards are key. You can also get life by using stuff like preditors raport on big stuff. There are also new cards that do wonderful things with you devotion to green (zextra mana and health). The key with green is to be fast and powerful.

Would this be the infamous 'populate' deck?  :azn:

So i just got a fatpack as a starting kit, its the 2015 Core so i can use the cards for some time befor transitioning. I managed to pull two decks together out of it.
The first is my more favored deck wich is a Blakc/White/Red deck which i built under the idea of a simple regiment: Have something heavy out there to rack up points and gain a good bais to keep my health up. With the Nightfire Giant as a key card in there i decided red was necessary. Also Red and Black just work together in my mind.
My secondary deck is a green blue deck with the basics of both archetypes. Mechanically that one is more of a heavy deck loaded with bigger creatures and lots of spells and instants to slowly knock down life points.
Hopefully this will work fine for friendly casual games so i can get better cards.

Just played half a game after a freind helped me refine my deck. Due to the wind and the fact we were at a park allowed us to call a quick end to the match, needless to say he was at 60lp and i a mere 16.... He dose love his B/W... So after some triads managed to peace together a green/white that works quite nicely. Do need some more low creatures for the black deck and the green.

So dose anyone play the online version? I might download it for fun but i hear it is so buggy that it would take skill just not to crash the thing. And what is the deal with the free tile? Im not going to pay for a game that breaks down ever 5 clicks...

Yeah. Mtgo is a bit buggy. 2015 is better though. It's also a great way to practice.

For green low mana creatures things like arbour elf, lanowar elf and elvish mystic are great 1 mana creatures that cantap for extra mana to help you get  stuff out quickly. Deadly recluse is an excellent 2 mana card with reach and deathtouch. Elvish warrior is 2/3 for two mana. Also you can stick in the giant/titanic growths to suddenly make a 1/1 creature 5/5 for a turn (I have got a 7/7 duskdale worm up to 37/37 with trample in a turn before now) . Also rancor is one mana and permanently gives a creature +2 and trample (and returns to your hand if the creature dies ). Ramoant growth gives more land for 2 mana. Really usefull fir getting big stuff.

Cheap black cards are abound. Tormented soul is a great unblockable agro card for 1 mana and vampire interloper for 2. Child of the night has lifelink for 2. Walking corpse is 2/2 for 2 mana. Gutter rats are useful with death touch and doomblade annd murder are pretty much essential.

Junk is looking really strong in the new format. If you can afford expensive singles I would reccomend building that

So what dose everyone think about the new rotation coming up next year? Im too new to have a opinion on it. It is just forcing me to go right to modern with all my ideas. My friend is getting me to make a white token deck. (maybe splash some blue to keep from all the board wipes)
