X-men: First Class
« on: February 11, 2011, 10:54:30 am »
Wow didn't realise there was no topic.

So First class, sounds a bit like a reboot. The very start of the X-men academy. New actors for everything. Well, I'm sure the trailer describes it well.

I'm not sure it's a reboot...the trailer uses scenes from both Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen from previous X-Men movies.
A nova geração.

I believe that this is more of a prequel than a reboot.  It takes place during the era of the Cuban missile crisis, while the main X-men trilogy took place in the "not too distant future," so we're talking probably 50 years later.

The nice thing about The X-Men being such an ensemble universe and having so many characters is that they can go back 50 years with some characters who are established as having a long history together (Prof X, Magneto, Beast & Mystique) without having to rewrite established continuity to bring back the rest of the heroes from those movies 50 years too early.  The comics provide so many characters that the other movies never touched on that a young Prof X can have a whole different team in this era.

This is definitely a prequel, not a reboot. Bryan Singer directed the original trilogy, and he is only producing this one, so that is why this trailer includes footage from the original movies.

I'm not extremely excited for this, but I will still probably see it. The thing that I think will make or break the movie is the acting of Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy playing Magneto and Professor X. They need to do a good job playing these pivotal roles or else it will not redeem the X-Men franchise

Looks interesting, but honestly I am looking forward to the other Marvel movies coming out this year more than X men.

I was only responding to a question about Superhero movies that are coming out this year Wolf. I know for sure that in 2012 Chris Nolan and his crew will give us the best superhero movie of all time and one of the greatest movies of all time! :2345 :2345

I know
Just thought it was a good reason to name my favorite Comic book hero again

Would be nice though if Batman and some of the X-Men were together in one movie

Ah right OK. They couldn't have made a movie about that just because of the chronology of the first 4 X Men Movies. It seems as though that team of X-Men that you decsribed was the platform for X Men: The Last Stand, which wasn't very good at all :879
