Gymnosophy
« on: February 21, 2011, 07:24:06 am »
The blog describes itself as "A repository of nudist and naturist thought and history." It doesn't seem to have been updated since last year, but there's a few interesting articles.

This one in particular caught my eye:

Shame and Modesty
http://www.gymnosophy.org/shame-and-modesty-11ft

Quote
What people call "being ashamed" is properly speaking the most atrocious kind of hypocrisy imaginable if we examine it more closely.

Why are not children ashamed? If modesty were really a .natural. tendency and not an acquired prejudice, then children above everyone else should be especially modest.. Yet they aren't. However, they become "modest" only under the influence of adults who teach them by force, threats and punishments down to what part of his body a person is "decent" and where he starts getting "indecent". How often a poor little thing has to listen to "oh, shame on you!" until it really begins to feel shame. It is then that the great lie of life to which we human beings have condemned ourselves mostly begins.

Well said.  :2345

Funny how a little bit of covering provided by bathing suits makes all the difference to the aunt over what's acceptable and what isn't.

Is anyone interested in discussing Post war nudism in America? I fear that if I post things, people will not respond.

Likely, yes.

Which war?  (There are so many.)

Why would we not?  "There is nothing to fear but fear itself."
Millions of years of evolution have combined to produce me.
I'm rather hoping that I don't bugger it up in one lifetime.

Thank you Jann, I will get my thoughts together and start a new thread.
