AN Amersham man has received calls from across the world after posting a job advert for female office staff to work in the nude- but so far mostly from the media.

Chris Taylor, 63, is looking for fellow naturists to work as web coders and sales executives at his offices in Woodside Road, Amersham.

He said he believes he is the only person in the world who is offering proper employment to groups of naturists and has had media interest from abroad and requests for TV and radio interviews.

Mr Taylor said: “I decided I would buy some new offices in Amersham and I decided it would be a naturist office. I am a naturist and I like the idea of working with males and females of the same persuasion.

“The software we sell doesn't require the sales people or technical people to be involved with the customers.”

Nude House is a division of his company which develops software for a range of services, including enhancing the use of pictures on the web.

The job advert on Craiglist said employees can work part-time of full-time and is offering a salary of £24k.

He hopes to have 16 to 17 workers of mixed sex and said interviews are in the nude so he knows people feel comfortable in the office environment.

Mr Taylor said he had to turn away some male applicants who he said were “guys who just wanted girls around.”

He said the office will be kept at 23 degrees and the public will not be able to see into the office.

He added: “I just like the habit of being without clothes. I enjoy being naked and being with other people who are naked. I don't have any hang-ups about it.”

I'm sceptical for a couple of reasons:

Firstly, under UK anti-discrimination laws you can't specify female-only applicants for a job unless it is something which it would be inappropriate for a man to do (such as, female-to-female carer at an old people's home).  This guy doesn't seem to realise that and I think that is why the company's female-only web coder ad was taken off Craigslist.

Also I am not sure if insisting people be nude all the time in the office kind of goes against some of the ideas of freedom I associate with naturism - sure, it would be nice to be able to strip off at work any time you liked but this job requires nudity all the time.  Maybe a clothing-optional office would be better?

I'm left wondering what this is really all about... is it really about giving naturists a place to work, bearing in mind I would find it hard to imagine anyone who has struggled to find emplyment purely because they don't want to wear clothes at work?  Or is it merely just a way for this guy to generate publicity around his new business venture?

Sorry, I was linking a newspaper article, I didn't realise it was already under discussion in the tech forum - not the first place I would have looked for it!

I agree that his over-emphasis on recruiting "attractive" female naturists is very suspect.  If his motives are... less than pure, I hope all the publicity and attention this venture is getting will actually make it more difficult for him to go and create his pervy dream office away from prying eyes...
