I really cant see any situation where knowing swordfighting is useful. Obviously doing it will improve your physical shape and balance and such but you can get that by practicing other skills that are actually useful outside of the sport

Hey, it can still be used as self-defence!

While it's true that most people wouldn't have swords readily accessible during a self defense situation, it's not outside the realm of possibility for someone to have access to a stick of some sort. A broom or mop handle, a walking stick, or any other relatively swordesque item can be used with great effect by someone who is trained with the sword.

Also, a lot of sword training systems teach hand to hand techniques as well. Lots of disarming techniques, throws, and joint locks... Maybe not as intensely developed as something like aikijitsu or jujitsu, but still included in most curriculums.

Precisely! And well, learning the mindset is useful, and you already do other martial arts, versatility is always good

Has anyone heard of Kali? It’s a Filipino blade combat art. The sticks you see them train with are always treated as “bolos” or machetes. Kind of like sword fighting haha just keeps me fit and healthy though. Martial arts have a special place in my heart

It has peaked onto my radar once or twice, but can't say that I have looked into it as of late. Although, I have been thinking about investing on some small practice knifes and I was thinking about a karambit, to name one. Doesn't that belong into the realm of Kali?

I think it does, I’m not sure though. I just started and there are so many systems. It’s really good for coordination. Especially the sticks

I am thinking move sets that I can practice in limited space, thus the interest in small arms. But escrima sticks could be a viable option too.

How do you practice Kali in these times of Covid-19?

Apparently band-aids and bandages are not required.
