Welcome to New Zealand's comprehensive guide to clothing optional bathing (http://www.nudistbeaches.co.nz/)
New Zealand is renowned for its natural beauty and in particular its stunning beaches, many of which can be enjoyed in a clothing optional way. A number of New Zealand beaches have been frequented over the years by naturists and skinny dippers and have customary nude status and as such will not attract undue attention from the prudish or nude averse community.
Also because New Zealand has no laws directly forbidding public nudity, those of us who wish to bath nude on our beaches are free to do so if we show respect and are discrete and mindful of others when swimming or bathing naturally (see our guidelines page)

Looks like people on the North Island are spoilt for choice... beaches everywhere :P
One nitpcky point though @Danee , the link at the bottom of your post actually points to the email address instead of the webpage... I got a little confused when it kept asking me what I wanted to open it with instead of just going to the page :tongue:

If only the Free Beaches site looked half as good as this site. Emailed this to the guy who maintains the FBNZ site & newsletter to see what he thinks.

I thought it was well done myself. The other pages are well written too .
The layout I mean most of that info is taken from the FBNZ site including the outdated reference to a North Shore City bylaw that since 28 May 2015 was revoked by the Auckland Council Public Places Bylaw because A) the issue of nudity is already covered in national legislation the Summary Offences Act 1981 B) properly illegal C) It was only council that covered the issue through a bylaw

I will always remember spending a few days at Uretiti Beach Campsite as the beach there is one of the most scenic that I have ever seen. The sand stretches for many km's and the sun rises are the best I've experienced.
At the height of summer the campsite is quite busy mostly with tourists but, as with the beach, it has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There was a good mix of families, singles and ages on the beach when I was there in 2009. The location, which is about 1.5 hours drive north of Auckland, is ideal for visiting the Northland Region too where there are plenty of hiking trails, caves, small towns and other beautiful beaches to visit.
