Hello people,
A favourite nude beach on mine in Sydney is Washaway beach - it's near Balgowlah on the northern beaches. If you've ever walked the 'Manly to Spit'walk, you've been unerringly close to it.
It's a favourite beach of mine - not crowded, has spectacular views of middle harbour - you can see the Manly ferry go by - but not too closely! There is often a mixed crowd - some other young folk go there. Last summer my ex and I went there one day, and saw a few girls in their early twenties, then ran into them again at the Wharf bar down in Manly later that day - we only just recognised them with their clothes on :234!
If driving, you can park in Barrabooka street.
There is a path at the end of the street - go down this path. In about 100 meters there is a sign which points to Grotto Point (straight ahead) - go this way.
In about another 100 meters there is a fork - go left - you will see a little blue sign on the ground - it gets a bit rougher here.
In about another 100 meters you see the sea ! At the end of the cliff go left about 10 meters and you will see how to get down to the beach - there are footholds on the ledge (about 8 feet) - if unsure ask someone on the beach how to get down - it's not difficult. It might be an idea to wear closed on footwear the first time !

Hi Jen
Great to see another Sydney-based site user. There arent all that many of us here.
You should join the Vita Nuda Australia group if you're on Facebook. Or check us out at www.vitanudaaustralia.com (http://www.vitanudaaustralia.com)
Have you ever been to a nudist resort Jen, or are you mainly a beach girl? I'm trying to round up as many Sydney-based people and anybody able to attend on the day to gather at River Island Nudist Retreat in the south-west of Sydney (near Mittagong) on Saturday 28 January as I'm producing an Aussie edition of Clothesfree TV and would love to have as many people there as possible.
If not, maybe I'll see you at Washaway Beach sometime over summer (if the proper summer weather ever decides to show up).

Thanks for that report Jen. I've heard about it, but not been yet. Hopefully this summer if it ever gets here :)

Hi-ya Matt. I was referring not to FB, but the main site. You guys have a link to a special interest group in Florida (positive), but ours is truly International, as you can see from the Poll section.

Hi Danee
Sure, I'll contact the Vita Nuda admin and get this site listed. No problem.

They do that, and we will do likewise!

That beach looks like a perfectly secluded spot yet still very close to a major city. I bet there are many beaches around Australia only used by local naturists. It's just knowing who to talk to to try and find their whereabouts :564
Thanks for letting us into the secret. Hopefully we can all keep it secret between us genuine naturists :76

Looks like a lovely beach Jen. I will have to make the trek up from Wollongong to try it out. What other beaches/nudist places do you go to?

Ok so I'm finally here. Great directions Jen and a nice walk too. I can see why they call it Washaway Beach, as it's currently in that washed away state :) and the tide is up, so not much beach to speak of today. Maybe next time....
I also noticed a "nude bathing prohibited" sign at the street entrance to the track. Is that new???
-
Hi
I'm disappointed for you that the beach had been washed away - it happened to a dear friend of mine also recently. good news is that it's back ! - I was there yesterday afternoon and it was beautiful and the sand plentiful. A few times a year the tide is too high, and you guys struck out unfortunately.
Despite the sign at the end of the street, I've never seen anyone trying to enforce it.

I know I shouldn't be but I'm jealous

:e4444 tide also effects cobblers
-
Great to hear it's back. Yeah I must have added a high tide to the lack of sand to make it a rocky spot.

I went down to check out washaway today. Unfortunately I rekon it may have been high tide (or I had the wrong spot) as all that could be seen were waves crashing on the rocks. There was a young italian couple who also joined me on the unseccessful hunt  But it was a pretty sweet walk back out of the park!

looks quite nice :e4444

Wow - thanks Jen. I lived in Sydney for 8 years and had heard of this beach but didn't know where it was or how to get there. I had also heard that its 'free beach' status had been removed around the same time that Obelisk and Cobblers were declared clothing optional which I gather ruffled a few feathers on the lower north shore.
Anyway, thanks for the great directions. I'll have to check this out when I'm next back in Sydney.
-
Good to know!
Thanks
-
There is currently a beach at Washaway even at high tide.
Get your self down there and enjoy the sun - well maybe not tomorrow as the southerly will amke Cobblers the better option.
-
Pity I arrived here in Sydney in the beginning of winter...now I will have to wait until summer to go explore this beach....sounds like paradise though
-
That water is SO blue! Wish I lived closed to a beach like that. I only have murky lakes and disgusting rivers near me. Sound great!*sarcasm*

So we've been having the most amazing weather in Sydney even though it is suppose to be winter now. Today was 26 degrees and I just could not NOT take the opportunity to go to the beach today. So headed to the North Shore and to Obelisk.
I met up with a friend and what an amazing day.
There was practically no one there and we just spent time sunbathing on the rocks in our birthday suits. Beautiful beach with beautiful views! We weren't brave enough to take a swim though. Come summer this will be regular visit for me.
Just thought I'd share my experience.
-
The only problem with washaway beach is that it tends to wash away! It can be a hassle to go all the way there and find there is no beach. I live close to washaway but cobblers is definitely my choice

I'll be checking this beach out when I go to Sydney to visit my special girl, can't wait to be free on the beach with her.
-
Great news. After about 8 months of it being washed away, and no beach at all, it is back!
Cobblers can be so busy so I'm so pleased. Best to go at low tide though.

Thanks for letting us know, it will be great to get back there.
-
Is it an official nude beach? I’ve never heard of that one.
Either way maybe I’ll check it out when the weather warms up
-
Hi,
No, it's not official but it's out of the way and I've never seen police or whatever. They wouldn't go there unless there had been a complaint for seriously bad behaviour. It's well accepted as a nude beach., and big enough to head to 'the other end if there is a bunch of people there who aren't nude. I've never seen any hassles.
As long as people don't creep out it's cool,

I get what you mean, we have little congwong beach on the south side of Sydney that’s basically like that, it’s an unofficial nude beach that everyone just accepts is a nude beach.
-
Yep, exactly. It's beautiful, never too crowded, you can see the ferries go by (far enough away)

Thanks I’ll definitely do my best to check it out, I might even see you and not realise.

Been to wash away a few times. Amazing views!!
Hopefully get back there very soon once it stops pissing down all week.
Seen a lot of people heading round the rocks at the southern end? A rock shelf to lie on?
-
I've heard a lot about it, but never actually been, maybe it's time for that to change (once the rain clears and I can get to Sydney)!
-
Hi
Washaway was washed away for a fair bit last year, but it's well and truly back and beautiful.
It's always worth checking the tides - in case it is a big high tide - and plan your visit around that.
I use this website to check....
https://www.tidetime.org/australia-pacific/australia/sydney.htm
It's not an official nude beach, but most there are nude, and it's usually a youngish crowd.
