Does anyone here want to write a book of their own? If so what would it be about?
I really couldnt write a fictional story to save my life. In fact i BARELY passed the writing classes trough out my entire time in school. Now though i think i could write a good autobiography that details the events in my life and gives a strong philosophical guide to living well and living honorably. I hope some of you will read it and i look forward to seeing some books out there by u my fellow naturists.
-
ya i start to write on my notebook. but i had some trouble and stop it.
but i want to start something new, fantasy and horror story :-)
-
I want to write a couple of books one in each genre, just for the heck of it.
-
I started writing a sci-fi novel. Got about 60 pages in and then realised I don't have the imagination :P I've still got it, though, so I might come back to it someday.
-
I can't write fiction to save my life either. Non-fiction is so much easier to write. i could imagine myself writing an autobiography and a few other books about history.
-
I have written a couple of non-fiction books. One on Entrepreneurship and the other on Project Management.
I'd like to tackle fiction one day.
-
I actually wrote a book two years ago called Daligo's Story Test of Identity
It hasn't sold a copy, but at least I know it's there

I published mine on Amazon Kindle a few weeks ago, have you tried this? Its pretty easy to do, the hard part is selling it!

The part I always fall down on is getting an idea. I am currently writing something which I hope to make into a short film which is basically a "based on a (my) true story" woven together with some overarching societal views I have. Without going into too much detail, it's essentially about two young women (splintered out into more by osmosis) struggling to cope with both societal expectations and constructs and trying to find and establish themselves in a culture which seems to laud uniformity through a mutated looping form of controlled individuality, in one case by choice, the other by overcoming genetic issues. Both these characters are close to my heart, one based on my first girlfriend and the other based on my current one.

Has anyone heard of National Novel Writing Month? It happens every November, globally. You write 50,000 words in one month. I've written 4 novels so far. It's a challenge but a fun one. :D
-
I started on a novel a while back. Still got it all, but I've not had the time to get past about 60 pages :(
-
Been working on a ghost / horror novel for years. In the last year the idea has really gelled and I realise that I could make be making an underlying point about the role of science in society. I have about 40,000 words but I very rarely get time to write it.
There are two ideas behind the book.
1) We fear most losing what we rely upon
2) A ghost should still be subject to the laws of thermodynamics.
-
I've always considered writing a book someday, though I think of what the subject it would be, it would come down to two: Essays I have written in the past about things I've observed with society or write something that is socially satirical.
-
I just recently happened upon a book I started writing two or three years ago and completely forgot about. Managed to reach nearly five thousand words, probably the longest thing I've ever written. I like to consider myself a relatively good writer but I'm ridiculously bad at structure. I was even worse two or three years ago!
That bug has been biting me again, though; I just might have to put pen to paper again.
-
Now my question. Even though I just did it, is it ok to kinda plug the book on this forum or perhaps other places (not just here).
Well, given that I have plugged my novel, "Naturist, Red in Tooth and Claw", (an exciting tale of naturists fighting zombies, available for Amazon Kindle and on Smashwords for a variety of devices - reviewed by H&E in August's issue and described as "an accomplished first novel"), then you should be ok.
-
Thought this was quite adequate.

I myself have just recently signed up for National Novel Writing Month for November, anyone else done this before?

I really want to write a book, but I'm overly critical about everything I write. I have really high standards when it comes to literature, so I'm afraid I'll never be able to write something intelligent enough.

Yep, I have!! This will be my 5th year. I'm excited! Let me know if you have any questions.
Sam :)

I just might! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I have bad attention deficit when it comes to typing on a computer, not to mention concerns about plot and things, but I think I'll be able to spew something out. And Bluetrain the thing with the NaNoWriMo is it's all about output...quality is what editing are for. The month is dedicated totally to just getting thoughts out there, one can always polish later

I have always wanted to write a children's book. My dad used to always tell my stories about the adventures of a little troll. I was always so intrigued at how many different adventures he woulda me up. I remember everyone of the stories in detail and want to write a series of books with illustrations. I'm not sure how to go about finding out if a company would have any interest in publishing. Any advice would be great.
-
Yes I do. I have some really good ideas, but figuring out the plot is killing me.

I always find writing a list of plot bullet points helpful. That way you can write important sections first, which I find helps keep the plot consistent.
-
Thanks!

I have thought about that many times. And I still think that in one point in my life I might write a book, or two. But for now I want to gather more life-experience and more confidence. I love literature, but when I do write something down, I tend to delete it right away. I am my worst critic.
In the future I would like to write scientific novels and travel novels.
-
I'm currently trying to write a book of poems base on imagination and reality.
I'm also writing a musical with a few friends of mine about the notion of fandom but from an adventurous angle.
-
I currently have two books in mind and developing a cartoon.
-
It'd be pretty neat to write a book. I've had a couple of random thoughts here and there, but I don't have any serious desire to write a book. But who knows? Maybe in a couple of years...
-
I have an idea for a children's book about a natural nudist and his mom trying to keep him covered and finally the two finding balance at a beach. I'm hopping if I can get it banned at a few schools the sales will really take off.
-
Already doing it. 10,000 words down so far. Need to do at least 70,000 more. I get writers block so it is taking time.
There is another idea I have which I am keeping under wraps.
Neither are naturists based. One is Sci-Fi the other alternative history.
-
I love the idea of writing a book. I've always enjoyed creative writing. I've been thinking for a while of writing a story (long/short, no idea) about naturism.

That sounds like a great plot and idea

I did once but I think my fire is dying if not dead.
-
Writing a book is one of my life goals. I'd like to do an autobiography when i'm old, right now i just want to write fiction. trying to find out where to begin.
-
I enjoy writing, I always have ideas floating around in my mind but I can never really get a full story out. It's definitely one of my life goals though.
-
I'm not creative to write a story but I love reading.

Since quite few years i am writing a story based from a universe i created. It's not fantasy, not sci fi, it's something between
I hope to finish this story, but i am only good to create universes, not stories
@Romain Ferré Have you finish your story book ?
-
I would definitely want to write a book if I had the time. I would probably write a romantic/comedy book or a exciting fantasy book.

As someone who struggles with the opposite problem: too much time but unable to work through writers block, I can say this if something's important enough you should make the time :azn:  :cheesy:

I once tried to write a book but only got about a chapter and a half in. The plotline mutated over the years from a dry near-future sci-fi, to this overtly edgy drug-fueled cliche with a murderer who murdered "for his art." Kind of relieved it never panned out.

I find that creative ideas are akin to the formation of gems: the longer set ones are usually the most brilliant.
I for one have been mulling over a few stories for the past 3 years. I think I’ve rewritten pages of disjointed drafts.
