I am definitely ready for new "Doctor Who". Until the new season starts, I'll just do what any Whovian would do: Watch the reruns of the older seasons until the new one starts! lol

i was soooo upset when David left, but i started watching all the old past doctors and that made me relies that the doctor is forever moving forward and backward and left/right :) but when Matt took over i loved it, first scene amazing. I've seen so many of Matt now that when i watch David as the doctor i miss matt's madness of him. then you watch Christopher and you forget how brilliant he was. i just love them all i think the final outcome :)

Agreed. The only one that's really grabbed me in this season is Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, though I also quite liked The Power of Three. I hope the Brigadier's daughter comes back, I liked her.
I also want a spin-off starring the pirates from season 6.

Firefly was a TV series that was some of the best sfi-fi or recent years, but was cancelled after less than a season. It was smart, quirky and utterly brilliant. It was created by Joss Whedon, who created Buffy and directed the Avengers. A movie was made a couple of years after it called Serenity that nicely finished off the story. If you haven't seen it and like sci-fi, its well worth checking out.

I like how they kept the show running when each actor wanted to leave. It is a simple trick that you just don't see enough of these days.

I'm definitely curious about where they are going with the new companion Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman). This character has seemed to have died twice already. Steven Moffatt definitely knows how to keep everyone guessing.

I'm halfway through season four of the new series and am loving it so far. I just watched The Unicorn and the Wasp, which was pretty fun. I've heard intriguing things about the next two episodes...

I have started the marathon on DR. Who and just got to season 3 E4. There was a quick little car jumping montage where the DR is jumping from one space car into another and he happened to jump into a car with a couple of nudists. He says sorry and quickly jumps into another car. I laughed. Cause I was rolling through INYO while watching when it came on so I had to share.

That is Radagast the Brown, played by Sylvester McCoy, who played the Seventh Doctor. Hence the joke why River hates the good wizards in fairy tales, because they always turn out to be The Doctor, in one regeneration or another.

well, Clara is already wrapped up in it since she met the doctor earlier in the 7th season, but I think it will still be awesome and funny as it usually will be with the Doctor.

Not sure how I feel about Matt Smith leaving. I guess it has been a few years since he took over as the doctor, but it still feels like he hasn't been around for long. His performance was enjoyable overall, so as with most of the previous doctors, I'll miss him.
Oh well. Maybe the doctor will finally regenerate as the ginger he's wanted to become for quite some time.

I got over David Tennant leaving within a few episodes of watching Matt Smith, I really enjoy Matts performance as The Doctor and I don't want him to go, I didn't want David to go either but it feels like Matt didn't get a full go at it.
*POTENTIAL SPOILERS*
I'm also upset about Christopher Eccleston messing with the continuity of the series over his unwillingness to be involved with the 50th Anniversary special, therefor making Matt Smith the 12th regeneration and killing the series after the next Doctor.

Originally, it WOULD have killed the series, but I heard somewhere that the writers have got rid of the 12 regenerations rule.
I don't know when, but it may have something to do with River giving up her's.

In the classic series it was mentioned that Time Lords could originally regenerate indefinately, but that the number of regenerations was capped at twelve because death is the price of progress. Now there are no other Time Lords its possible he could just go on regenerating, but I'd like to see something interesting done in the show to account for it.

Finished the 7th Season today so far ... (till Nov 23th '13) i really enjoyed the wholes Seasons since the reboot 2005 and every Doctor had his own individuality so its a little bit hard for me to decide which one is better because all of them were (or still are) great!
I am looking forward to the Series and of course the new Doctor and what he will bring to the Franchise !

They actually did describe a way they could have given the doctor more regenerations to a time lord in classic Doctor Who, but I think *Spoilers*
When we see John Hunt at the end of the last season, Smith claims he is the Doctor but he went by a different name, rewind to the episode where Clara is lost on the TARDIS she finds the book on the Time War and tells the doctor she read his real name. The John Hurt doctor claims he did what he did in the name of peace and sanity. When you take that all into together I arrive at the conclusion the John Hurt must have been the doctor during the Time, but people always assumed it was the 8th and that he then regenerated into 9 some point in the series. But what could really have happened is that during the Time War the master had been dead but the Time Lords decided that he was needed and therefore was resurrected, giving him a whole other set of regenerations. So I feel Moffat will write it off as the doctor died and they also deemed he was important enough to bring back as the master was.
Also Peter Capaldi is gonna be great.

The Master has outlived 12 regenerations, so I don't see why The Doctor can't do the same? ;-)

I run the Brisbane Doctor Who Fan Club, which is an informal group that meets every so often for drinks and lunch.
I'm organising a luncheon on the second Sunday of a month, and a special family cosplay party on November 23rd at Roma Street Parkland to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary. I'm just going to be Chris Eccleston's Doctor seeing as he's also from Manchester and his outfit is so easy to emulate on a limited budget. ;-)

I think Steven Moffat has specifically said that they can ignore the 12 regeneration rule anyway because it's not considered canon or something.
I was a huge David Tennant fan actually, but Matt Smith has grown on me. I would say that I still enjoyed Tennant more, but the storylines in the 5th and 6th season are so good and the writing is amazing!!! The seasons have gotten better overall as the show has progressed IMO.

In the UK in the run up to the 50th anniversary, they've been showing all the older episodes from all the different Doctors.It's good to see how the show has changed and also how each actor brought a different side to the Doctor.
I haven't seen all the episodes yet, but I think Tom Baker is my favourite of the older series so far. :grin:

Surprised no one has posted about the 50th Anniversary episode "The Day of the Doctor". This was an excellent episode that I'm glad explored the Time War and just where John Hurt's Doctor aka The War Doctor fit into all of this. Loved the interaction between Doctors 10 and 11 and it was epic how they made Gallifrey simply disappear rather than destroy it. I was really delighted to see Peter Capaldi's upcoming 12th Doctor get in on this action (though we only saw him from the bridge of his nose and up).
If I had only one disappointment, it was not having Billie Piper reprise her role as Rose. While a manifestation of Bad Wolf worked here, don't get me wrong, I would have liked to have seen the interaction between Rose and Clara as I think it would've had it's own dynamic along with the companions' respective Doctors.
The biggest surprise to me was at the very end where the 11th meets the museum's curator and it's Tom Baker. While I speculated that there would be a previous Doctor actor in this one than David Tennant, I could not have in any way imagined that Tom Baker (the 4th) would be in it. His scene with Matt Smith left an open interpretation as to just who this curator really was as the Doctor "never forgets a face".
I'm glad that during the time leading up to the 50th Anniversary that Stephen Moffat (who I've knocked quite often in the past) has tied up all the loose ends between the 1996 TV movie and the series' return in 2005 concerning the 8th's regeneration ("Night of the Doctor" with a treat performance from Paul McGann), the Time War, and the circumstances that lead to the series' 9th Doctor. Great job all of those involved.

I reaaly love thise TV serie. At start, I'd some difficulties to see the doctor interpreted by Matt Smith, but, with the time I finished to like his excentric side. I'm also happy to see a elder doctor for the next one.
Now, I started to watch the serie with the first doctor. It's kinda big contrast between the 60's seasons and the 2000's ones. But I really love it.

I think "Day of Doctor" was pretty close to perfect! It was exciting, had great acting, added to the backstory, furthered Moffat's narrative, and had two bonus Doctors! The only thing I'd say is that they kind of forgot about the plot with the Zygons. I hope that's addressed in "The Time of the Doctor", because I wanted to see how the negotiations turned out!

Time of the Doctor was a bit slow in terms of action, despite the epic period of Battle on Trenzalore. I like that it revealed the secrets of the origins of the Silence, and their conquest of Earth earlier in the 11th's chronology. I am disappointed that the question of whether a Weeping Angel will forget encountering a Silence or move closer when it looks away was never answered. The regeneration of the 11th Doctor into the 12th Doctor was not as painful as Moffat claimed it would be, seeing as though it was brought about through mere symptoms of old age, not unlike the 1st Doctors regeneration into the 2nd Doctor.

I thought it was a nice story but the regeneration bit was a bit rushed. It was typically moffat in that it's plot was a little in concise. Also, I'm still reserving judgement on capaldi as there wasn't enough of him to form an opinion.

I did like it but not as much as the day of the doctor. I wasn't expecting to se the doctor actually age so much, and was half expecting capaldi to pop up at the top of the tower.
It's very Moffat this episode too, not invested heavily into the series? Well you may be a little confused about all these points. But he tied them up.
Still disappointed the crack in the wall was the doctors fear. It's not like he always knew it was gallifrey

I felt the story of Time of the Doctor was a bit clunky. Moffat, it seems to me, tried to put a shit-ton of things into one episode to give this one an "epic" feel to it. To me, it just seemed like a big mess. Matt Smith's time as the Doctor is over, Steven Moffat's time as showrunner needs to go with him.
I did like however the final scene before the Eleventh's (if that's what we can call him) regeneration. Very nice touching moments between him and Clara and the hallucinations of Amy was a good touch too. That all said, I am looking forward to seeing what Peter Capaldi brings to the TARDIS. He is a stellar actor and I know he will be a good Doctor.

Now that I'm going back through the main show since the '05 revival, I can hardly say I've just a passing interest. Now I can say I'm all in, especially now that I've started practicing voice impressions for as many Doctors as I can manage and seeking out fan made comic dubs and audio stories (akin to what Eccleston has signed up for with Big Finish) to show them to the world.
