I assume there are others on here who like game of thrones but I can only find one super old thread on it? Anyone wanna talk thrones? (I'm only just watching season six now so no spoilers plz)

So, a broad question, what do you like about the Game of Thrones? And did you fascination start already in the book series?

I really enjoyed the show and love the way it's written and how the actors portray their characters. I've recently bought the first book to see what it's like and learn more about storylines the show hasn't really covered

I started reading the first book too, but as far as I came (not really far :D) there were almost no scenes missing in the series...

Don't worry mate I'm only in season 4 because my housemate who used to watch it moved out then. Last I knew, the trial for the king's death was just happening. Wouldn't mind knowing how things turned out.

I started watching the first series when it came out, then when that finished I read all the books, but I never got round to watching season 2 till recently

You should know there's a prequel too it's called something like Knight of the seven kingdoms or something Google a song of Ice and fire prequel and you will find it

The Hedge Knight. I started listening to the audio books before the series started, but I like both. I'm eagerly awaiting the next season and Winds of Winter.

I've just caught up with this tv programme. My mum and dad have all the dvds and I have watched them all now in the space of a few weeks. Season 8 seems ages away (probably because it is). :angry:

Sometime in 2019 unfortunately. You could read the books or the Hedge knight by the same author. Help scratch that itch in the meantime :smiley:

I LOVE Game of Thrones! In particular, I like Tyrion (but who doesn't?). Some of the characters are really complex, which I love! I can't wait for season 8 and for the possible prequel series.

Yeah, the wait is awful, but even worse will be when there will be no more GoT ever.

So far, the wait has been surprisingly tolerable for yours truly. Now, the 3-4 months leading up to the final season, when everyone and their mother will be talking about it, hyping it up, etc? That's going to suck.
Ah well. First world problems and all that.

That is a pretty good possibility. I won't hold it against them though for setting the bar so high.

I'm starting to watch it on HBO. They are running it from the start. I saw the first 3 episodes so far. The Starks seem pretty cool.

Ep4 and Ep5 really aren't much better, in terms of writing.

Sadly due mostly to not having access to HBO I'm a tad further behind than that. I just recently finished season 4. I hope to get a hold of season 5 and watch it soon though.

I actually kind of enjoyed watching season 8 (please don't hate me :laugh:)
Even though the storytelling wasn't the best, I love the art behind the cinematography. Absolutely stunning shots in season 8

Season 8 had some good moments. But all the rushed story telling and whatnot had me scratching my head. Now I think I know why they were in such a hurry to call it done. The show runners were hired to do the next 3 Star Wars movies.
Overall, didn't care much for season 8 but it had a few good moments. I like the way they went with the ending. The series as a whole was awesome and a good distraction while waiting for the books to finish.
I probably won't be getting into the spinoffs unless they do the Hedge Knight series.

Can't wait for it. I hate to watch unfinished series. If you start watching How I met your mother now you can watch all seasons withou any waiting. Not the same thing with unfinished series. I want an time change button to be abled to travel to the future just to watch the ending
