It's probably my pun obsessed mind, but phrases such as "putting the rams out" totally sounds like a euphemism for nudity :)

There are a few puns in that article. Though running a sheep and beef. I think putting out Rams is just that. Though our man the late great Maury Ball did say that you could get away with a lot when comes to drawing animals including Rams that you couldn't do with humans.
