Title: Does anyone else love to travel?
Post by: Nudist.12 on April 20, 2020, 02:47:20 pm
Naturist or Non naturist, I think traveling is one of my biggest hobbies. I love to experience new cultures and learn about the people who live in other places. Where are your favourite places to travel?

I am lucky enough to travel for work almost full time (at least until this corona thing popped up). My favorite places to travel are Japan and Korea as I really enjoy their saunas. I also enjoy going on cruises for leisure (but those aren’t quite as nude friendly - at least the ones I go on).

@Spamaven34  -  I gotta ask - what job frequently takes ya to Korea and Japan?! :D

@Nudist.12  -  It's a great way to spend your time on this planet.  This is a subject that you and I briefly began to touch on elsewhere.

For me, travel is fun, but I don't necessarily live for it.  The primary issue is time and intention.   The problem is that whenever I visit a place, I like to spend quality time there.  The tourist destinations don't interest me as much as living among the people for a bit.  To get a true pulse of the culture, on the peoples day to day, and to give myself the chance to make new friends.  Of course, it's always fun to enjoy the fun stuff / to see the amenities that a country/area has to offer.  The problem is that as you get older, the opportunity to do these things can become difficult as you get bogged down with daily life demands.

Hence why if you're in a position to travel, to do so as much as possible.  Especially while you're pretty young and people will be more than happy to accommodate ya. :D

I love but sadly I rarely can afford to, lol.

I did buy a passport last year in hopes of starting to vacation outside the US this year, but uhhh....things changed. Thankfully they are good for awhile.

I was just about to get into travelling! In the last few years it's been quite boring staying in one place. This year was supposed to be the year I travelled to many different countries! Hopefully once this virus clears up, I'll be able to leave the country again  :laughcrying:

I like to explore the sites, the culture, the people and the food

One thing I have wanted to try is to go to British Columbia or the Rocky Mtn. train. Canada seems, from an Americans prospective, hugely underrated, especially on natural beauty.

We did that trip and It's amazing, we went from Banff to Vancouver. We have driven from Calgary to Vancouver and the scenery is breathtaking. We have also done some helicopter tours over glaciers

I had opportunities to travel when I was a supervisor in a college (Italy, Greece...).
:agree that traveling allows you to meet other people and get to know other cultures.

If you had been in the European Union you could have benefited for your higher studies from the Erasmus program and thus meet other people and cultures.
But you will be able to travel at your majority and at low cost to different places thanks to internet accommodation platforms such as CouchSurfing, B&B...

It's said that "Life is a journey, not a destination".

Okay so just this year alone I was due to fly to the US, Majorca and The Netherlands. I really want to go travel to the main european cities first and then when I'm more comfortable with flying would like to go to like Bali, China, Japan etc.

And unfortunately I'm not home in London atm since I got stuck in this lockdown at my parents house so I'm gonna be here a while

I have done many trips that I never would have been able to afford otherwise by using credit card points and miles. A lot of travel credit cards have HUGE sign up bonuses just for joining. The Chase Sapphire Preferred card is my favorite for that.

Washington state or D.C.

Pretty sure it was D.C, it's confusing how they've got to places with the same name

I do love traveling both in the sunny and rainy season and luckily I often find some nudist options in the places I visit. One of my fav countries to travel around in summer is definitely Croatia, nice and historical cities, delicious food, stunning nature and amazing beaches.

Holland and Germany are very cool places too in spring up to June when the weather is nice and warm, there's a lot going on in the evening and during the day you can always find a nudist place to relax. Also with Couchsurfing it's usually rather cheap.

In winter I do love skiing - the best option for me is northern Italy, slopes are amazing and spa/saunas are huge :D

I love to travel too! But usually with a small group not more than 4. Since I'm in the Asia pacific region, I like Japan and Taiwan a lot!
Japan also has onsen (hotsprings) which allow me to experience some social nudity. Something we don't get much in Asia. It is also a very beautiful country and the people are very nice (to tourist at least xD)

I remember reading about Germans visiting Austria so that they could hike nude. When you get the info I hope you post it. It will be interesting to read.

I do.

My family has visited Europe on three trips (UK, France, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia and Switzerland), and I visited Southern Maine and Cape Cod during the summer as a kid.

I've also driven along the Northeast Corridor down to Virginia many times, mainly for non-vacation purposes. I also visited Chicago once, and Pittsburgh for a conference representing my uni.

My family also took vacations in the Carribean during the winter (Puerto Rico).

My grandparents recently bought a house in Quebec, Canada.

I was also going to travel to Israel this summer before Covid happened.

All in all, I have to say that I've traveled a lot, but I don't know my own country well. I've been to Europe many times now, and I have to say I'm not a big fan. I'm probably the first naturist who hates Europe. I feel that Europe is overrated among American tourists, and I think that there is so much in the US and Canada that I still have yet to see. I want to see the Grand Canyon, San Francisco, Yellowstone, Miami, Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, and Nova Scotia.

All in all, what I'm saying is I love traveling but I don't really want to go abroad. Growing up in the Northeast Corridor, I feel like I haven't truly gotten to know North America and all it has to offer. I want to get to know this continent, as I love it and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Although, I would love to go to Australia and New Zealand.

You haven't been to any Asian countries. Trust me its a very big change from the west! If you are adventurous for food I would totally recommend my home country Malaysia as majority of us knows English. Japan is also nice but they don't speak english, they have nice public baths tho.

Is there much naturism in Malaysia?

No unfortunately, it is a diverse country but the main religion is still Islam. Thus, it is illegal to be nude outside, and there are no nude beaches or anything.

Therefore I am very jealous of you guys who have the opportunity :D Especially since Malaysia is always hot (around 30C (86F) all year long)

Side note: Malaysia is very visitor friendly though, and everything is cheap but modern. Just look at some vlogs and you get to feel hows it like.

@InterestedNudist The way I understand it, on a photo safari the hunter comes home with some awesome photographs of wildlife in the natural habitat. On a gun safari the animal(s) head goes home with the hunter.

I would probably be more into a photo safari should I do it. When it comes to hunting I would much rather stick to less endangered animals. I just love those animals too much to be the one to pull the trigger. But I probably could shoot a raccoon or rodent. If my aim is good that is.

I'm guessing you'd need really good aim and speed to hit an fast rodent or racoon.

So I will just ask two questions: (1) Were all of the shots taken from a  vehicle, and if so how far away from the subjects were you? (2) What lens do you typically shoot with?

Hey man thanks  .

Most photos are taken from the vehicle, not the best photo opportunities when on foot unless one is looking to take photos of the smaller things. The animals are very used to the vehicles where I work and will often be within 5m. The bigger animals slightly further but the cats will walk as close as 1m when passing you!!

Equipment: Currently shooting with a Canon 7D mkII and most of the time a Tamron 150 - 600mm F5.6 - 6.3, trying to save up to upgrade at the moment looking to go mirrorless (Sony A7) with a 70 - 200mm F2.8, 135mm F1.8 and 85mm F1.4. Something like that. But photography is pretty dam expensive.

There is always that option @Conjuam. But for me the options would be to upgrade so maybe the new Eos R6 or would likely change to Sony and go A7 III.. lenses I will need to upgrade as well! Would ultimately like to have a 70-200 f2.8 and a few others! But for now just enjoying!!

Lovely pictures, but I would say put more work into the site design if you have a chance, probably start with a template would be much easier. Need to look a bit more professional

Ill look into it!

Its unfortunate though that despite the perfect environment, there aren't naturist activities in Malaysia. I feel like I have hear there are lots of pretty beaches too.

Sorry didn't see this until now. Yeah, I'd really love to go to Asia. It's such a large area of the world that gets virtually no attention on this side of the world, except for the kids who are into anime or k-pop. When Covid is done I definitely want to visit. I've heard amazing things about Malaysia and Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau, South Korea, and Japan. It's amazing to me that the Asia has over 60 % of the world's people, and yet all we hear about is Europe and the Americas. It's also cool to me that the culture is so different from ours, being based on different cultural roots.

I know very little about it and that's part of what makes me excited!

If one were to buy a beach, could they say that it's a nude beach, everyone is allowed but they have to be nude bc private property or is it still illegal if people can see you?

I have thought about this before. I'm fairly certain that the beach would need to be unable to be seen from pubic view. That would be doable from land. But, how could the beach not be seen from those on boats and other watercraft?

Nope, I don't think so you can if people can see you, in Malaysia at least. Im pretty sure some countries can. But yes what a waste since we are a Tropical country.

Do you think Indonesia has more relaxed nudity laws? Looked at property there for fun and it was very cheap.

I would think with Indonesia being a majority Muslim country that nudism would be a major no-no.

I feel it might be worse. Malaysia at least is more diverse. Thailand is more relaxed with it, i think there are a few nudist club or places. Never been to Thailand tho.

Ooh I love cheap but good food. I’m a foodie but I don’t like to spend money. It’s why I’m an expert on the Trader Joe’s cheese selection lol. Tons of Cheeses from around the world at very reasonable prices!

I would love to visit a public bath in Japan. It’d be wicked neat. I love their public bath culture, it seems so healthy, normal, and natural.

I agree, this pandemic just keeps dragging on and on. I’d be down to meet you, you seem like a cool dude, plus it helps to have an insider to show you around in a new land.

I too love to travel but it's off the radar thanks to the pandemic.

Even living in a stationary place, only going to work and out to get essentials has become really isolating. Up until about 2-3 week ago I was doing ok with it. Now, going home to an empty house, not seeing friends or family has really gotten to me. Who knew that a mostly lone wolf would end up going from alone to lonely?

Yeah, I'm happiest when travelling. I enjoy it for all the reasons you've given, but it does also open up new opportunities for naturists too. I always seek out naturist facilities or locations when abroad

You aren't giving quite enough credit to the scientists creating the vaccines. Once the single-shot and room temperature vaccines are out, things will improve very quickly.

I don't want to take any chances. I have two arms and I'm willing to get a dose in each. But Fishy-N-Chippy is correct; those that are unmasked, undistanced, and unwashed are going to present a danger to us for a long time after the vax is available.

My greatgrandparents were Pharmacysts in Yugoslavia back in the 60's so they were sent for few years to Ethiopia to help them grow, so I heard many nice stories about it from my greatgrandfather and saw pictures, so Id like to go there now, 50 years later and visit the same places :)

There's lots of places I'd like to visit but I haven't had the opportunity yet.

I studied in Copenhagen for a summer. I have also been to Stockholm. What a beautiful city! I have also been to various cities in Finland, such as Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Jyvaskala and Otenemi.  Has anyone been to Marienhamn on the Aland Islands. We were there for Midsommer. Simply fabulous!!

I absolutely love to travel and 2020 has been such a difficult year not being able to go anywhere. I've made the most and still travelled within the UK, to some nude beaches on the coast an was lucky enough to travel a fair bit in 2019 all across Europe and to South Africa, almost knowing it might be difficult in the following year.

Hoping to travel again later this year and maybe meeting some of you along the way. Couchsurfing is always a fun way to travel and meet local naturists.

My parents and i have always prefered to travel 2-3 times a year instead having a cottage somewhere and going back to the same place all the time.
It's a great idea as i got to see so many different places, but covid broke many of our plans.

this year i'm hoping to maybe go to Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado this year, i'm hoping that happens, or even maybe go to Charlotte then later Florida (or vice-versa) but that's just what I hope happens.

that's what i'm trying to plan out for this year,

Similar to some off the other comments maybe because I’m old..

I first went travelling apart from normal family stuff when I was 23 and started in America & Canada

If any younger members are worrying about Covid and how to take a gap year because of it!! Consider being a camp counsellor through Camp America! It’s amazing and you meet people from all over the world! Trust Me!!

After that I lived in Australia for 2 years and visited other places too.. learnt loads!

One off my favourite things to do is travel alone now and get lost in places! Meet locals.. it sometimes goes wrong and I have some funny/scary story’s about that but you see the real place!
