Title: Worst film you ever seen?
Post by: partrick321 on December 26, 2013, 10:50:40 pm
Rather it was a successful film or straight to DVD.
What is the worst movie you have ever seen? And I mean watched, not heard about.

I'll start:
3. The Room
2. Dark Harvest 2 the maze
1. Battle field earth 2000

"American Nudist: The Motion Picture" is the biggest steaming pile of shit I've ever downloaded and wasted time watching. Hell it's just a horrible movie in general. Objectively speaking, it is seriously the worst god damn movie I have ever seen in my entire life.

"Transformers 2" ties with "WAR" as the worst movies I've ever paid to see.

In no particular order:

The Room (which is actually hilarious)
Garfield
The Grinch

By far: the Master of Disguise,
Batman and Robin
and agree with Blizz, The Grinch (with Jim Carrey)

Cloverfield- non-existent storyline, the biggest main characters die, not enough development of characters (good or evil).

Well personally, the worsts movies ever are:

  1 - Howard, The Duck.
  2 - Norbit
  3 - Super Mario Bros.

Of course, they're maybe more bad movies, that I haven't seen but if I see another one, I'll maybe update my list.   :undecided:   :0988

It's a "found footage" movie...the hell did you expect?

"The Host"
I seek bad movies and will watch most anything, but this film was a conflicted 14 year old girls daydream that has no business wasting anyone's time.
(and yes I've seen Sharknado.)

I actually liked 'Cloverfield' but then I also liked 'Gravity' which no one else seems to have.

One of the worst experiences I've had was seeing 'Independence Day' by Spielberg. After all the hype it received it was a huge let-down and I remember being disgusted with how much I paid to see what turned out to be badly written US self-aggrandizing bullshit.

Well yeah! It's Spielberg! It gets me that people think winning an oscar means something more than the fact you are friends with Steven Spielberg (perl harbour and titanic won one,I resty case!)

Worst films I ever saw? Tie between day after tomorrow, red riding hood and fast and the furious.

Having done a degree that involved film studies I am now a bit of a snob when it comes to film. I can't really be doing with most of the Hollywood output. Give me a Sundance, Venice, torronto or Cannes favorite any day!

Hang on, Spielberg had nothing to do with Independence Day. It was those gimps who decided Godzilla would be better as a giant iguana who could be killed by the military.

I liked Gravity! It did a decent enough job with *some* of the physics, and was enthralling enough as a story and a spectacle, that I was prepared to ignore the really obvious science failures and just enjoy it for the artistry, which was staggering.

I tend to avoid seeing films I think will be bad, so the worst one for me is Apocalypse Now. I saw the Director's Cut OMG Supreme Redux Delite Platinum Extra (you get the idea) edition on TV several years ago, and it was the single most tedious film I've ever seen. I'd rather watch Star Wars 1-3 back to back than watch Apocalypse Now again, and SW1-3 made me want to remove my eyes through my ears with a rusty crowbar.

I think my most memorable worst movie is 'Lost in translation'. I was really bored by it, but since it got good reviews I waited for some plot to play out or some point to be made, but I didn't understand it. I need a movie with a bit more obvious action or drama in it. That movie was indeed lost in translation on me, lol...

Oh actually, now you mention it that's a good call. It had all those rave reviews saying it was hilarious and then there was one vaguely amusing scene in the whole thing. Comes in at number 2 behind Apocalypse Now for me by virtue of being mercifully shorter :P

Wow really?

Apocalypse Now was awesome. It was a brilliant modernization of Heart of Darkness as well as a sort of expose on the Vietnam War and racism.

Maybe so, but it took about four times the lifespan of the average star to get to the actual point. It could have comprehensively solved the meaning of everything and I'd hae missed it due to basically being in a coma :P

as a story and a parable it is incredible.........but as a movie, as entertainment, i found it painfully slow, they could have cut 40 minutes from it without affecting anything

What's not to understand? It's a musical scored and based around songs from The Beatles.

And yes it was a longer one but the playful battle of wits between the two captains was very well written.

Excluding every romatic comedy I was forced to watch, the worst movies I can pull off the top of my head are:

1) Sinister - Lame plot, plot "twists" that surprise no one who has ever watched a horror movie or thriller, dumb main character

2) Shock Labyrinth 3D - Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I didn't get that movie at all

3) Pulse - a movie about demons/ghosts/whatever that are brought into our world via a computer virus, propagate via computer networks, make people become lethargic and kill themselves and can be stopped by red tape

I genuinely can't get my head around all these new "monster-disaster" movies with the riduculous names - it's literally like they've just pulled a random animal and a random weather formation out of a hat and decided to make a movie based only on that!? Jeez I've stuck a couple on when I see them on TV just to try and understand why they even get funding, they're all just hilariously bad.

I've gotta agree with the guys who said Cloverfield as well, we walked out of that at the cinema, just terrible. Also, a controversial choice i think, but Insidious is probably the worst movie I've ever seen that was meant to be ok. I thought it was just a parody of those cheesy shock-scare movies when it started, everything was so corny and shabbily done. Those two are the only films where I've ever left the cinema during the show.

Scooby Doo is one of my least favourite EVER. Batman and Robin was almost as painful, though had some camp humour to it. Bruno was just stupid and unfunny. Plan 9 from Outer Space, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and Surf Nazis Must Die were terrible movies, but also wonderfully hilarious.

The most disappointing movie that I've ever seen is Crash. I was hoping that it would be a complex meditation on racism in modern America, but instead it was a jumbled mess of different overacted cartoony characters learning oversimplified lessons about racism. UGH!

The movie I've probably hated the most in recent memory though was Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (aka Extremely Lame and Incredibly Corny). That movie was obviously trying to use the subject of 9/11 to pull at the heartstrings and earn awards, but just came off as melodramatic, cheesy, and self-important. The main kid in it was particularly annoying throughout the movie. I thought it was a travesty that the movie was nominated for Best Picture alongside the likes of such great films as The Help, Midnight in Paris, and Moneyball. It seemed like it was nominated solely because of its subject matter, rather than any actual merit. The only good thing I can say about the movie is that Christopher Plummer was excellent, as always.

Master and Commander, and Saving Private Ryan on a list of worst movies ever?  I would put those as among the best ever.  Although Saving Private Ryan loses points from me for it's "Hollywood" ending, Band of Brothers is waaaaay better.

I've been trying to think of what is probably the worst movie I ever saw, and it's hard as I try to avoid bad movies.  However, I, and some friends of mine, from time to time have a "shitty movie night" where we watch a truly fuck awful movie for fun.  Someone has already mentioned Surf Nazis Must Die.  But I think I got that beat with Deadly Prey (1987).  An incredibly lame knock off of 80's action movies like Rambo and Commando, but like Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls it's so bad it's good.  They even made a sequel in 2013 called Deadliest Prey, I haven't seen i yet, but it is apparently just as awesomely bad as the original.

Then there was when i was in my mid to late teens, my girlfriend, at the time, and her friends had a goal to watch every movie that contained underage frontal teenage male or female nudity.  Turns out there are a lot of such films, mostly European or South American and from the 70's, 80's and early 90's.  So I had to sit through some truly awful movies just because they had a scene where a 12 to 17 year old boy or girl shows frontal nudity for a second or two.  Some of the movies could be considered child porn today, some of them actually were child porn back in their day.  I don't remember most of them, but one I remember being forced to watch when I was 15 was Genesis Children (1972).  A terrible, terrible "movie" if it can even be considered one.  It had almost no plot, the acting was totally amateur and the only purpose of the movie was to show naked teen and preteen boys running and frolicking on the beach and in the water, often in slow motion with graphic close ups of their flopping cocks and bouncing balls.  When I voiced my criticisms of it, the girls I was watching it with accused me of being homophobic.  But yeah, defiantly worst movie I ever saw was Genesis Children.

The Leonardo Dicraprio version of Romeo & Juliet made me want to blow my brains out. The moment you see a bunch of hood-rats referring to guns as "swords" and dancing in the middle of a gun fight (specifically Tybalt), you know the movie is going to be awful.

Another one would be West Side Story. I'm not a Broadway musical person to begin with, but THAT thing took it too far. You know what would make the beginning even better? MORE F***ING SNAPPING (sarcasm, folks).

"The Avengers" . . . Wow!  There is a ninety minute stretch of lost life I'd like to have back.  Ninety minutes spent watching a 12 year old boy's wet dream about a slow motion train wreck was all that I could stand before I clicked it off.  Thank goodness I was writing a paper for school so I had something to occupy my brain.

And just as a by the way . . . since when was Loki the brother of Thor?  Holy Frigg!

Grey - anticlimactic
Polly shore is dead - 100% no point to it. I will never get that time back
I cant think of any Pauly Shore film that is actually worth watching! That being said, Biodome is an AWFUL movie.

Those movies are AWFUL! The acting is some of the worst I've ever seen in a "popular" modern movie.

Haha I actually liked The Master of Disguise. Probably because I was a kid when it came out and didn't know any better. Now looking at it, its pretty awful.

Grown Ups.

The non-stop misogyny is what really irked me. It wasn't funny and it really wasn't needed. Other than this, the movie seemed to be four friends making a film for each other, not for an audience. I  could not care less about their inside jokes and it all just came across as really stupid. We all do dumb things with our friends, I get it. I just never again want to pay $10 (US) to watch other peoples' pointless shenanigans.

I don't know how I could forget this movie, I assume I must have successfully suppressed the memory for some time:

Dead in 3 days 2

The movie started mediocre and and got dumber and worse with every passing minute, and the ending was so idiotic it somehow managed to ruin a movie that was total garbage to begin with.

More trash...Any British sex comedy like 'Confessions of a Window Cleaner'.  Hard to believe but the guy who wrote that also wrote the novelisation of the 007 film 'The Spy who Loved me' and 'Moonraker'.  Guy was called Christopher Wood

I know it's a crime to say anything against 007, but "Moonraker" is rubbish too, isn't it? The worst movie I've watched at least during the last year was definitely "Grand Piano" with Elijah Wood and John Cusack. It's like "Phone Booth" in a concert hall and it does not only have a shitty story, but the soundtrack - there's barely a minute without music - makes it completly ridiculous...

Atlas Shrugged P1

The book was intricate, detailed, and above all, suspenseful.

The movie took liberty to conform with the modern day, was emotionless, and removed so much from the story that it was bare.

but the book is HUGE and a movie that included everything would be 24 hours long

This one movie called Dragon Wars or rather D-Wars. the dvd cover had two snake like dragons around a building about to fight each other.
But the movie is about humans trying to find somekind of artifact or something for like 2 hours. The dragons only appear in 5 mins and look so terrible in bad CGI.

I was going to ask if cult films that are so bad that they are good can be counted or not? The Room definitely would be in that category, but then is it then not 'bad' in the sense of the original question?

If you can get so much enjoyment out of the movie that another movie about making THAT movie gets made, it can't be counted.

The only movies I really hate are the huge cgi fest mainstream movies that have almost no real substance.  For example the Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers series.  Also any movies that try to portray what a "good" or "normal" family/individual looks like for example the family in Max.

And just on general principle, The Adventures of Milo and Otis, is garbage.

I was just talking about this to someone the other day who thankfully agreed with me.  :happy

I mean I clearly don't "get it" I guess, but what made it worse was how the damn movie blew up when it came out and everyone thought it was the most brilliant thing ever.
