By that I mean, do you have many hobbies where you have something physical to hold, and say that you made, when you're finished? There's nothing wrong with consumptive hobbies, like reading, watching tv or playing video games, but being able to develop your skill and make something that you can use is a special feeling.
I cook a lot, and I've improved a lot at cooking in this past year since I moved out of my parents' house. I also bake occasionally and try, every so often, to write fiction. I used to do woodwork in school, and I'd like to return to that some day. I also want to take up gardening, although I don't have a garden lol
-
I've been writing my own fantasy world. I haven't in a little while just because I was taking a break from it. But I'll get back to it eventually.
-
I started a YT channel about an interest for fun. It's a hobby that morphed into a meaningful income stream, in spite of my efforts to simply keep it as a fun side gig.
-
Nah not so much any more. Used to have 00 gauge railway but since moving in 2008 I’ve had no space to do anymore and everything is packed in boxes. I’ve got stuff from the 80s-2008 ish and my dads dublo stuff along with a few things I’ve bought.
-
I got a youtube channel going on. I used to make a mod for a video game but I haven't worked on it in a while.
and idk if this really counts as a hobby but I am in the process of starting my business. I guess that's not really a hobby but more of a hustle.
-
I make music :azn:, have been for a little while and it's the best feeling when you start with nothing and finish with something reasonably substantial
-
Ever so often I’ll do a photography project or, very rarely, a painting. Otherwise I try to read a decent amount and let all the characters and information run around in my head.

I’ve basically got my own cartel going in school but for snacks. We sell snacks at 1/4 the price the school does, so we rack in decent money. It’s a secret operation tho since the school’s lost a bit of the profit they’d usually make during lunch

Damn thats sweet. My most productive hobbies are drawing and biking i guess. Drawing is fun and useful for getting good grades in art class and biking is good for physicality so ig those are productive.

Have you shown any of your drawings here?
-
I work on cars, that's very productive and I can also make good money sometimes
-
I translate books from English to my language as a side job and a hobby. It's a bit like getting paid for reading (and rewriting books).

Oh yeah I don’t blame you for that. Hope to see some you can share though.

I've never really considered cooking to be a hobby, but it is something that I definitely enjoy and have improved at over the years. Baking is pretty fun too. Has anyone else noticed that the food always tastes better if you cook it while naked?
As for other productive hobbies...I suck at building stuff, but I do enjoy the process as long as I'm not doing it alone. I'll gladly help my dad with projects around the house or help him put things together.
One could also argue that fitness is a hobby since you are working on yourself, and it's something that you eventually see results from.

I suppose it depends if you just cook for necessities or if you take more enthusiasm in it than others who just cook because they need to.
-
I cook for necessity but I also get enjoyment from cooking a delicious meal, or baking some damn good cookies from scratch, etc.

Perhaps not the hobbyist then 😜
-
But I did explicitly state that I never considered cooking to be a hobby. Just an activity that I enjoyed 😉

Lol yeah you did
-
I like making clothes, embroidery, language learning, music, and historical re-enactment (including fighting)
-
Cooking, I guess. Otherwise, definitely photography! I used to work as a photographer and if I'm all well I'm going to take pictures for a magazine this fall :)

i do have a couple. I've been learning the guitar recently which is a lot of fun, especially when you get down a tone, its so cool.
i also do a lot of weightlifting. I have a good setup at home with some decent weight so i can do a lot of exercises, but cant do deadlifts. mainly because i dont want to damage my floor and dont want to fork out a lot of money for a deadlift platform and also because i dont have enough weight to do it.
i suppose this is a bit of a "consumption habit" but i like learning things, im doing a mathematics degree currently and quite enjoy learning about complex things. and some of the things i learn are applied but some remain just a cool thing you can tell someone about at a party when the small talk ends.
i actually do some woodwork. i dont do it often but quite a few times ive had to DIY something so i can do a new kind of exercise. for example i recently created a little L shape wooden panel (just a small one) to fit in a corner of a room so i shove one end of a barbell against it and attach weights on the other end. then lift up the bar on the end with the weights and do T bar rows. The L panel helps protect the skirting from damage as the end of the bar would continuously scrape against it. the floor is carpet so it doesnt scrape it anyway
-
I very casually do computer stuff like modding and simple programming. I'm also a huge gun guy but the laws of my country kind of prevent me from doing too much in that direction right now lol.
-
I don’t really have any hobbies, despite having tried for years to come up with something.

Ohh related to your woodwork and interest in fitness, may I suggest making some stuff that could be used in calisthenics to help definition and strength as a side to your weightlifting to compliment it?

sure, what do you have in mind? i am going to make prediction and say youre thinking of a set of wooden rings. (to do pullups with and stuff)

I've been re building a old boat motor lately.

thats really cool, i did that before, what motor is is and whats wrong?
-
I, ironically, am trying to start a hobby lever outdoor apparel brand/business. Im moslty aiming ad accessories so naturists don't get freaked out.
Im actually gonna try to implement a type of garment that would work well as a nude hike cover up

I love to sew (even more so since I got a computerized sewing machine)!
I usually sew shirts for myself (not T-shirts, more like business shirts) or dresses for my niece who is four. It's so much fun to use unicorn cloth and lace - which I never use for myself (well...except for the unicorn cloth that changes colour in the sun...).
It's all self-taught, and every other project I'm trying something new to learn something new.
My grand project will be a suit for myself for graduation day next year.
I've also done a Rockabilly dress for my sister.
It's easy to find normal business shirts in my size, but if you want to have something different, it's impossible; that's where it comes in very handy.
It all started a few years back with knitting, as there weren't nice, fitting hats for my large skull.
I also keep bees, so I am harvesting my own honey :)
-
I have a lot of hobbies, lately I've been very busy and I find cooking relaxes me and its rewarding when it turns out well
-
It's just too hot for me to do cycling at the moment. Should be good to go in a couple of months or so.
-
I love making things and fixing things.
At the moment we are turning a bedroom into a dedicated cinema room so we are doing lots of construction on that.
-
Other than cooking, which I do more as a necessity rather than hobby, not really atm. Used to do vocal practice (regular speech, not singing) and I was really consistent about working out, but those are on a pause. Going to try easing back into working out as my body adapts to my new with schedule
-
I have photography. I even used to work as a photographer for some years. Not as much anymore since covid, but I have had a few freelance gigs since.
Cooking is a hobby as well. I've never had any complaints about my cooking, just praise really. The worst I've heard is "It's really good, for being vegan. But I want a steak" xD and that I don't take personal if someone has cravings for meat, can't really do anything about that.
