Title: BARE cover arts
Post by: R on April 02, 2016, 11:54:09 am
Let's post some good albums that covers contain NUDITY.

I'll start...

...with Bauhaus In The Flat Field

You probably already know this cornerstone to gothic rock and post-punk. If not, then go now and listen, it's almost 40 year old, but did not lost a bit of it's energy and charm.

The cover photo was taken by Duane Michals, and is "Homage to Puvis de Chavannes"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnrG904talA

Xiu Xiu - A Promise

Always when listen to Xiu Xiu I can't state wheather I like it or not. All albums are agressive an filthy, Jamie Stewart, the head of the band sounds as if he is beeing tortured and forced to sing...

The cover art was taken by the frontman, and shows a gay prostitute met in Vietnam. Actual release was censured with red rectangle.

Not the most accesable album, but still worth checking out.

The History of Flesh by Zachariah Holte

By many told to be the worst album that came out last year.
It probably is one of the strangest albums, with its eerie lyrics and unusual instruments.
I would recommend listening only when you like very obscure music.

The cover shows the musician.

The first cover I posted is Nirvana's Nevermind. Love that album.

The second is an album by Candlemass called As it is, As it Was. Just a "best of" but still thought it was worth sharing. Definitely an awesome and very underrated band in my opinion.

I get pretty good laugh from the title song

edit: I only bothered recently to check recently the artwork for Ladyhawk is for a Canada band spelt without an E as opposed to the New Zealand born artist Ladyhawke who I mistook that artwork as belonging to.

Title: Nude Album Art
Post by: AmericanSwede on May 09, 2017, 11:19:40 pm
I have been inspired and decided I want to create a collection of actual record album that feature pro-nude artists/artwork.

For instance, John Lennon & Yoko Ono's "Two Virgins" album with a front and back of them fully nude. (image attached)

If anyone knows of any other albums, please post in this thread the artist name, album name and a photo of the album art.

Thanks!

I remember an album my parents had by Led Zeppelin that had a picture of nude children climbing a stone stair case  - Houses of the Holy. You might want to include it in your collection.

Oh you're right. Thanks!

By the way, I posted the same post on my Facebook and it was taken down in minutes for violating community standards, even though their community standards says photos of art containing nude figures is permitted. Censorship is so sad.

Merged. Facebook was talking about introducing filters like Twitter or tumblr and other platforms have that recognise we're not all the same and avoid this Hays code style censorship blunderers that make the news fairly often.

On a another note I'll add Mando Diao a Swedish group where at least 3 of their 8 album covers feature some nudity

Good times, just released this year
