Post by: Danee on October 11, 2011, 01:51:39 am
Program: Oregon Experience
 Episode: Vortex I

In the summer of 1970, some tens of thousands of people converged in
rural Clackamas County for an event called Vortex I. This festival
celebrated freedom - freedom from violence, from drug laws and from
clothes. It also served as an elaborate ploy to lure young people away
from Portland. Vortex I is the only state-sponsored rock festival in
 U.S. history.

And for several hot summer days, Vortex 1 created a sort of clothing optional alternate reality, underwritten by the Republican Governor. 10s of thousands converged. Traditional law enforcement had been suspended

Can anyone else not see it?

Perhaps it's a Canada thing?

It took a minute to load but I was able to view the video. It is amazing that this was able to happen and supported rather than shut down.

Does no one else get the irony in "freedom" having to be celebrated by being herded off into a remote location and segregated from society in general?  May we all be saved from such freedom.
