Title: Board games
Post by: Nudist newb on November 02, 2018, 06:21:01 pm
So im not sure if this is on the right board or sub division or whatever but Board games ...

In this year ive realy started to develop a passion for collecting and playing them and thought that it might be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to them here

So any thing board game related from games you are excited to see developed to expansions and suggestions you can drop them here

Ill start this thig by recommending 3 of my current favourites

1.Teraforming Mars
2. Small World
3. King of Tokyo

Those are 3 I would absolutely recommend and love ... im excited to get my hands on Root, Everdell and Gloomhaven in the next couple of months

And woul love to hear your thoughts on the board games you love and are excited for :cheesy:

Just saw this. There is another board games thread on here somewhere but I don't recall where sorry. I remember discussing Catan on there a while back though.

We host a Naked Board Games night in Los Angeles a couple times a month. Always hilarious.

One of my all-time favorites: Survive. Any Florida board gamers want to make a day of it?

Just played Trapwords and had a blast! Thinking ahead and figuring out how your opponents would try to skirt around is so satisfying.

A while ago, a friend introduced me and a few other friends to Space Alert. It's the type of game where you play together against the game. You really need to cooperate in order to succeed.
We all had a blast  :cheesy:

Call me basic but I really love Betrayal at the House on the Hill as well as it's DnD themed spin-off Betrayal at Baulder's Gate. I'll have to check out the ones you guys have recommended though.

I've been thinking about getting into board games.  So far I'm eyeing Star Wars Rebellion, or I might try to make my own bootleg Catan.

I really like monopoly even though it ruins friendships XD. Im pretty good at it and I usually win, the only issue is what I mentioned before, which is the fact that it ruins friendships

I was in school chess club for a couple of years but does that count as board game or bored game?

I love older board games, like Shogi and Twelve Men's Morris.
Not that I don't like any more recent ones too though...

This was passed down to me from my father. It's like Chess, but with 2-4 players, and on your turn you may choose to move every single one of your pieces or none at all.

Needless to say this makes a regular have of Chess look like Chutes and Ladders!  :laughcrying:

It's such an intense game of ongoing strategy that it is very hard to find anyone willing to play. So unfortunate.

Damn that looks good! I’ve seen another version that has an electronic thing to do the banking and players get their money with cards instead of having a heap of paper to mis count.

My actual top three Bord Games are: - Ticked to ride
                                                           - Mysterium
                                                           - Legends of Andor

I’m rather worried now that I can’t think of ever hearing about many if these board games and my knowledge is limited to the basics. As mentioned somewhere else, ludo snakes and ladders, chess etc. Also noting that @Rob N calls the game chutes and ladders instead of snakes and ladders, the game originally ancient Indian called Moksha Patam.

Cluedo I used to think was the newest game I have tried (whether I played it right is another matter) until I just looked it up... 1943 and almost 80 years old is a lot older than I imagined it.
