Title: Web games
Post by: simonalexander2005 on January 04, 2010, 05:33:44 pm
OK,

Further to the "what are you playing" thread, I was wondering what web/flash games people like to play?

some less well known favourites of mine are:

http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/play/ (http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/play/) - daysofwonder have a great range of games available, ticket to ride being a favourite - it's all about collecting cards and filling in routes.

http://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/obey-the-game (http://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/obey-the-game) - a simple little flash game where you simply do what it says...

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/365143 (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/365143) - The impossible quiz (and sequels) - challenge your thinking-outside-the-box logic

http://www.jacksonpollock.org/ (http://www.jacksonpollock.org/) - for the artists amongst you (click "enter the classic jackson pollock)

http://vectorracer.boschloo.net/ (http://vectorracer.boschloo.net/) - a nice little vector racing game

http://www.yoarcade.net/cubefieldfullscreen.php (http://www.yoarcade.net/cubefieldfullscreen.php) - avoid the cubes!

http://www.bubble-struggle.com/ (http://www.bubble-struggle.com/) - pop the bubbles

http://www.timtang.com/ttt/ (http://www.timtang.com/ttt/) - another think outside the box - noone has ever completed it!

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/382321 (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/382321) - Xeno Tactic - my favourite tower defence game (destroy all the enemies before they make it through)

http://www.3dtris.de/ (http://www.3dtris.de/) - Tetris... in 3D!!!

http://www.elizium.nu/scripts/lemmings/ (http://www.elizium.nu/scripts/lemmings/) - lemmings online!

So what do you guys think? Have I got anyone hooked? Any other suggestions?

I just spent 3 hours playing these games rather than doing my PhD... I had more fun doing this, though :)

might i suggest www.nintendo8.com (http://) ? they have taken all the 8 bit nintendo games and brought them online for play...for free. and you will spend hours of your life there instead of being a constructive member of society.

A Flash game I sometimes like to play when I have a few minutes to spare is Defend Your Castle. Enemies constantly rush your castle and you have to either fling them up into the air using your mouse to get rid of them, or upgrade your castle defences to deploy archers and wizards and other defences on your castle walls. It can be found on a few places on the Web, I think (such as Newgrounds, and perhaps Albino Blacksheep, too).

Yes, that's the one! I always seem to get stuck on the stage where the little stick-guys start getting backed up by giants. By that point in the game, my mouse hand is starting to lock up, and I'm losing much-needed units because of not having enough funds to upkeep them all. Because you can't pick up giants with the mouse (or at least, I haven't been able to), once a giant gets onto the screen, I am forced to watch helplessly as they proceed to trash all my hard work.
