Has anyone read this book? My class is going to start it soon. If so, is it good? Please, no spoiler alerts.
-
I read it back in high school, it's a pretty decent book, not the best I've ever read but I enjoyed it.
-
What's the plot?
-
If I remember correctly, it's about a news reporter who is traveling down the Congo river to meet up with a manager (or someone of the sorts) who has been really successful in mining operations upriver. Turns out the guy has gone a bit insane and has made up his own little empire.
Someone please let me know when I am mixing up the plot of the book with that of the movie inspired by the book (I'm not gonna tell and facilitate someone just watching the movie, and no it's not the same title as the book)

Its one of my favorites. Its a post modern clasic (before there was post modernism). Its a wounderful trip into the darker side of human nature.
-
So is it something ill generally enjoy?
-
Hmmm...... I never read the book but did see the movie. The movie SUCKED so I hope the book is way better !
-
The movie I saw was just a couple of years ago. I also like John Malcovitch so I'd prolly have liked the movie with him in it.
-
And the highlight: it is much better written than those two. (and that is coming from a French guy who technically, should support his own countrymen).
Yes, because you are around foreigners. But at home you should criticize everything French. :-P

My class is just about done with the book, but I'm still in Part 1 xD And, she was saying that we might see the film "Apocalypse Now" too.
-
I'm hoping one day i can finish it.
-
I do !!
I criticise every French thing from ... Canada :)
Didn't your former president get enough flak for calling us Canadians? :-P
