Title: La Jenny
Post by: mynakedlife on February 13, 2012, 10:07:05 pm
I have the pleasure being able to tell y'all that my gf finally agreed of staying at a nudist resort this summer. After googling the options a bit I booked a week at La Jenny in the south of France.

Has anyone of you ever stayed there? what were your experiences?

Or even better, will I meet anyone of you "in the flesh" this summer?

You will find that Pisco, our host in Switzerland, has been there a few times. Get in touch with him!

We got their 2012 Summer brochure in today's mail - check your directions before you go as it isn't in the south of France though it is south of Belgium.  Looking to spend a month in France in 2014 so we are just starting the planning.

Oddly the mail had Belgian stamps on it???

That is very odd Leah.

Being Belgian I can assure you that la jenny is in the south of France, not Belgium. It's near Bordeaux. We're going to spend a week there, and from there we're going to Le Serignan, another nudist camping west of Agde.

I'll report on our experiences here.

Quite odd indeed ;)

@Leah: I suppose that either you misread or your summer brochure comes from a not so reliable source.

Not lost - Bordeaux is not in the south of France.  It is on the Atlantic Coast ie west not the Mediterranean ie South.

I know I'm from the other side of the world where up is a different direction but north is north.

Just glancing at a map, Bordeaux sure looks like it's in the southern part of France.

Ah, I see the babylonian confusion of tongues here... We belgians tend to see everything south of normandy as the "South of France", wich includes the south-west (Aquitaine) and Rhone-Alps :)

That is what I was thinking - in the Australian psyche and being a coastal people we see the south of France as those departments with a coastal border on the Mediterranean.

Tomorrow we're finally leaving for La Douce France. If you see us at La Jenny or Le Sérignan (from 18th till 25th) don't hesitate to say hi!

Hi all

La Jenny (http://"http://www.lajenny.fr/") is located at the west coast of France near Bordeaux. I was there with my wife two years ago at the end of august and I absolutely loved it! You can book differently sized chalets that are located in a lovely pine tree forest within 10 Minutes walking distance from the ocean beach that lies behind a big sand dune. The beach seems never ending and you can go for very long walks. Being on the atlantic coast you will find that there are som good waves for surfing, check the forecast (http://"http://magicseaweed.com/La-Jenny-Surf-Report/1537/"). There is a big pool, a golf course and many possibilities for different activities. I recommend renting a bike to move easily around the resort.

Two years ago we liked it so much, that we go again for two weeks by the end of august (in two weeks), can't wait for it. @mynakedlife we will arrive on the evening of August 25th.

For other naturist resorts in France, also check the web site of France 4 naturisme (http://"http://www.france4naturisme.com/").

We had such a great time last year that we've decided to stay for 2 more weeks, end of August this year. I hope to be in time to enroll for the scuba lessons this year. Anyone else going?

Are you going to be wearing signs that say "mynakedlife"?

Also La Jenny is on my bucket list but going as a single guy would be a bit weird I think.

We've been to Euronat, but would like to try La Jenny in future. mainly because it's got a golf course and a much bigger outdoor pool!

I've booked for a week in May this year.  I've never been before but having read about it on various websites it does appear to be exactly the kind of place I'd enjoy staying at.

I had hoped to attend with others, but that doesn't appear to be happening so I wondered if anyone knew what sort of reception singles get at the resort?  I'd hate to turn up and feel unwelcome by people at the resort.  My knowledge of the French language is also basic, so I wondered whether it's advisable for me to brush up on some French before I go or if there is an understanding of English from the staff etc?

I was also wondering, what are the main options you have for getting to la Jenny from Bordeaux (specifically the airport)? I'd like to know if I should look into car rental or if there is another fairly direct route to the resort? I understand it's fairly out of the way, so I'm accepting that car rental may be my best option.  Can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

I don't have time to research it but based on what I know of France's transportation system (from my trip a few years ago)  la Jenny should be within walking distance of some sort of train station (maybe a cab ride). Of course I could be wrong. I'd dig deeper before I rented a car especially if you're going to stay on the resort. If you want to get out and explore then a car is a natural option.

Also - why wouldn't you hone up your French anyway?

Yeah, I will definitely be working on my French before travelling.  Even if it allows me to have a basic conversation.

I booked a car for rental, so it allows me to see more of the area if I want to depart the resort (eventually haha).  From what I read, this seems like the best option.

Right on!

If you're in Europe do you need an international license to rent a car?
I'm not clear on how that works and if I recall correctly being from Canada I would have needed one to rent a car in France.

I believe so.  I'm not actually certain actually, only that I know the UK licence seems to be accepted more or less everywhere.  I had no trouble using it when I was in America last month and when I've been to Australia and New Zealand.

I have family in canada with Canadian driving licences that have driven here.  So, I'd be surprised if you wouldn't be able to use it in France.
