i was watching a video by Alice Cappelle [very good channel!] when all of a sudden i got jumpscared by a positive, or at least anti-anti-, take on naturism. a refreshing surprise - from both that and her compelling take on the role of children in public spaces.

What I'm about to say isn't completely related to the topic of "Child Free" zones, but more about "Child Safety".  Particularly as it relates to Nudist destinations.  In a nutshell:

I've brought up the subject of nudism to quite a few non-nudists. In my experience, one of the most common concerns 'textiles' express about nudist destinations is safety.  Specifically as it relates to children. It's a totally valid concern.  One that comes from a good place.  So whenever they bring that subject up, I try to give them context so they understand why nude destinations may in fact, be safer than the beaches they take their own families to. Because this is basically the situation:

Nudists are hyper aware of how the public perceives them.  Because of that, nudists tend to be hyper aware of the fact that all it takes is one bad apple to ruin that destination for everyone.  So if you visit a popular nude beach or resort, rest assured, people are observing you to make sure that you're there for the right reasons.  So how does this relate to kids?

Simple. When somebody brings their kids to a nude beach / resort, you won't just have the parents eyes looking out or the kids.  You will have DOZENS of eyes looking out for their safety and well being of those kids. Why? Because again, the regulars there know that if something bad happens to those kids, the very existence of that beach/resort may be put in danger. So in spite of the nudity, it may be very difficult for a creep to get what they are looking for there.

Now, compare that to your typical public beach.  In that environment, nobody really gives a sh*t about your kids. The public attitude is:  They are your kids, meaning they are your responsibility.  Nobody elses. So there will be no extra eyes that will help to assure their safety. That's mainly on the parents and perhaps the lifeguards. And let's face it, even the best parents will likely take their eyes off the kids or at least a little while (as they sunbathe, talk to other adults, try to organize all the stuff, etc).

This is my long winded of saying, a popular nudist beach or resort may actually be a safer family destination than a popular public beach.

i never really thought of it in that much detail before, but yeah. as long as all the systems are in place, there may be a safety benefit
