Actress Alicia Silverstone has told how Woody Harrelson inspired her to become a nudist.

August 19, 2009, (Sawf News) - Actress Alicia Silverstone has told how Woody Harrelson inspired her to become a nudist.

The Clueless star said she first got into taking her clothes off while she was tending to her garden.

And she credits former Cheers actor Harrelson, 48, for her decision to strip off.

She said: "[It] probably started when I was doing my garden the first time. I'd be out there, and it would be scorching hot, so I would take off all of my clothes and garden. And then I would jump in the pool and swim - and I always get in the pool naked."

Silverstone, 32, told a US magazine: "I used to spend a lot of time with Woody Harrelson, and he's not afraid to get naked."

I always take these stories with a grain of salt. The currency of Hollywood is attention, and making the claim "I like to be naked" is a quick and easy way to get a little attention for yourself. Particularly for actresses who basically make a living off of their sex appeal. Also... it's nothing special. Celebrities are by their nature exhibitionists, and you'd pretty quickly lose any hang ups about your body or nudity working on a movie set, or else you wouldn't last in the business very long.

Or maybe I'm just cynical. Always possible.

Well, this isn't the first time I've read a story about Alicia Silverstone under the sun in the buff. I think there was another that said she liked going to a nude beach in Hawaii. And this one is about Alicia Silverstone, who I haven't seen in the spotlight in years.

I agree that there are celebrities that tell stories like this to sell movie tickets or boost ratings (Hayden Panettiere I'm looking at you) but I don't think Alicia Silverstone is one of them.

Or better yet, advocated the nude lifestyle as in "It's a great way to be and I think more people should try it."

"I like to go around naked" (and she probably does) is the kind of statement that's meant to generate tabloid press more than a positive affirmation of the nude lifestyle.
