Nah, I think his point's about spot on. The principle of being innocent until proven guilty is one of the most fundamentally important legal principles ever laid down, and regardless of any reputation the club may or may not have it is completely inappropriate to go off on one like the Daily Mail on crystal meth.

If the guy is actually found guilty, then those actually involved with him who could and should have done more to protect his victims need to have a bloody good think about what they were up to, and the rest of us can and will utterly condemn his actions. Until that point, throwing wild accusations around is completely inappropriate. We'll not have any of it here, thankyou. By all means, report the facts as they stand, because they're important for us to be aware of, but for the love of whatever you hold dear, stop at that point.

Easy on Sunsport dissing, Dario.  Some of our members go there, they host the FYN events, have awesome youth programs and again, while you have good and valid points, to say 'this is what I heard' or 'this is what people are saying is wrong'

Lets leave this until further things arise, and not rumor monger or get actual stories twisted, as was done previously.

Do you think nudists are *more* prone to have pedophiles in its midst than other hobbies?

I don't but I do think that nudists need to be more vigilant about such people in our midst.  It's unfortunate, but the truth is that if a preacher or school teacher gets arrested for pedophilia the public & media generally says "gosh, how horrible that such a thing would happen in what's supposed to be a safe environment."  If such a thing happens at a nudist place textiles often say something like "what did those pervs think was going to happen, letting kids and adults parade around naked together."

As for this guy and this case, I really can't say since I've never met the guy nor do I know his work.  I've probably seen some of it on sunsports website and none of it looked sexual.  If he is guilty of molestation than I say throw the book at him.  But if he is a nudist photographer who takes innocent pictures of naked kids and some folks are freaked out by that (because they figure that anything naked is sexual) than we should join together to support him.

That's a fairly common attitude for textiles to have too.  I'm a regular poster on imdb.com and pretty much any movie with naked children in it has a BB post where people call it child porn, even if the nudity is totally nonsexual.  Just recently I saw a post where I pointed out that nudity itself is not sexual and the other poster basically said "if she's naked than it's sexual."

Unfortunately our movement has had more than its fair share of paedophiles in it.  They see naked children as being vulnerable, trusting, easy prey, and like all other children obliged to keep secrets.  The problem with nudism is that such behaviour is more pronounced because you don't exactly see naked children in other hobbies or mainstream leisure or recreation.

This is why nudist clubs and camps do background checks, and it's not just places that admit children either that require them.

The criminally minded see nudism as something that is above the law, and they think that they can get away with getting their jollies on hurting and exploiting the vulnerable.  Unless every nudist worth their salt stands up and takes appropriate legal action to deal with these subhuman scumbags, we will continue to bear the brunt of social abuse that we are all weirdos and perverts.

Implying that child molesters go to nude resort because that's where the naked children are? I doubt that. If you go to a resort for sexual kicks and you are into children, you risk being seen with an erection looking at children. I doubt they want to risk that.

Beside, it's not as if there was a ton of children at nudist activities. Someone wanting to abuse children is still better to try priesthood.

I would actually look into the statistics about how many nude children get molested or kidnapped, compared to how many clothed children get molested or kidnapped. I believe that you will find that clothed children are far more likely to get molested or kidnapped.

To my understand I don't know of any resort at least in the United States that doesn't require membership registration (sometimes by State law requirements), and with that registration they perform a background check. Usually if a person fails their background check, however the resort wants to determine a failure (i.e. disturbing the peace charges, child molestation, etc.)
